In addition to Janet's work with couples, she also is providing sevices in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method of relieving and changing memories, feelings and effects of traumatic events.

When a person suffers a traumatic event, it can become locked in the nervous sytem. Every time the person thinks of it (which is often and even comes back as flashbacks), it carries with it the emotions, physical sensations, and distorted cognitions which often drives behaviors such as drug abuse, inability to maintain relationships or hold employment.. The trauma is unaffected by psychotherapy or medications and has ruined countless lives, i.e the Vietnam veterans. What EMDR does is to break up the blockage and allow the healthy and adaptive processing to get through. It was discovered that bilateral stimulation, along with the protocol used by a trained therapist, enables the sufferer to be free of the damaging effects of the trauma. Janet has been doing this work with clients and they're delighted with it. You can learn more about EMDR by visiting the website -- www.EMDR.org
